Digging Deep with Nikki Winn
Nikki Winn began her archaeological training at Brown, majoring in Classical Archaeology. While living for two years as a Peace Corps volunteer on the island of Pohnpei in the Federated States of Micronesia, her archaeological interest widened to include the settlement of the Pacific region.
After leaving Micronesia, Nicola immigrated to Australia and continued her studies of language acquisition and symbolic communication with a Masters of Applied Linguistics from Macquarie University.
28 years later, she's still there, married with two kids living right next to the Great Barrier Reef.
Nikki did her PhD researching and recording rock art sites in limestone caves, and has recently been working with Aboriginal communities and national parks to document and help protect vulnerable Aboriginal cultural heritage.
